Barn Owls!!!

Barn Owls!!!

We have a pair of barn owls living in an owl box we put up about four years ago. (We got the box from the then-called Upstate Birds of Prey, now Smoky Mountain Raptor Rescue. That’s a whole different story, but an interesting one). This pair of owls lives with us in our barn for a year or so while it raises anywhere from one to three owlets. Then, they’ll disappear for a year or so before coming back again. Someone told us that they do this because they diminish the prey population and move away so it can recover. We put our game camera up in the barn’s rafters so we could get some pictures and videos of the owlets as they learn to fly and hunt.
